Tech EDGE
Tech EDGE: Mobile Learning in the Classroom Review:
Tech EDGE is a very helpful YouTube account to help educators and other professionals stay up to date with new educational apps. They create weekly videos showing about three or more different apps relating to the topic of focus. They include information about what the certain app does and show the app in motion by using it on camera. I like the videos that featured Guy Trainn (on twitter) who is a education professor at the University of Nebraska Lincoln where Tech EDGE is based out of. He provides an in depth look at these apps and has great ideas that he suggests these apps could be used in the classroom. There are also sometimes current teachers in the videos who discuss their use of the featured apps in their classrooms. There is a large variety of content in the Tech EDGE videos. Their library of videos contains apps the are useful in both elementary and secondary classrooms. Some videos are content specific but most can be incorporated into almost any class. With technology in the classroom being on the rise for both elementary and secondary schools, sites like Tech EDGE are very valuable to all teachers. You can look through the Tech EDGE videos and learn about apps to use in the classroom by visiting their channel.

Google Slides Review:
Google Slides is one of the apps I learned about from the Tech EDGE video titled Presentation Apps. I begin exploring this free app by making my own presentation. There were a variety of templates to choose from which made matching the slide show to the specific type of presentation that is desired whether it be for education, work, or personal. The templates are very specific such as under the education tab there is options including, book report, field trip, lesson plan, and others. These look nice but seem limiting because it would be difficult to make them work for anything other than the suggested use unless the user was highly creative. However, there is also an option to make a presentation from scratch so it could be personalize and more adaptive to any situation or assignment but would require more time. This app would be popular among those who are fans of Google products but I imagine most individuals are fine with using Microsoft's PowerPoint which does almost the exact same thing. I liked using Googles Slides because it can be used and revised on any device. This is helpful in the classroom because teachers may have different devices at home versus at school and some will students. It also allows users to work offline and present anywhere. This app is not to flashy but it gets the job done and is easy to use. Google slides would be great for classrooms using other Google products to improve organization. There are many uses for presentations in the classroom as well as outside it and Google Slides will help accomplish that goal. Find it in the App Store at Google Slides by Google, Inc.

Haiku Deck Review:
Haiku Deck is another presentation app discussed in the featured Tech EDGE video. This free app is very easy to use and the presentation usually end up looking very professional and organized. I would use Haiku Deck in my classroom because it seems to be the easiest way to make a presentation. There's a variety of templates and categories to choose from such as business, education, travel, humor, or art. The user can pick what type of slide will appear such as title, content, or image and then insert the desired information. This app makes it easy to insert a graph of any type and adjust the percentage or numbers. One can also add notes from their device into their presentation with ease. My favorite feature of this presentation app is that it is easy to add pictures. The user does not have to leave the site and find pictures from other sources or use only photos that are currently on their device. Haiku Deck allows a user to search words and then produces a list of images based off that search. It will even suggest terms to search based on the content in the slide. I also enjoy how simple it is to download and share the completed project. Like Google Slides, Haiku Deck can be used on any device and be edited anywhere. I think Haiku Deck is a great presentation app because it saves time with its simplicity but retains the sophisticated appearance of other presentation apps. Geo Guesser Review:
Geo Guesser is a free app featured in the Geography Games video from Tech EDGE. The idea behind this app is to show the user a random location in the world and their challenge is to find out where they are. This is useful in geography classrooms because it is an interactive learning activity that helps students develop their abilities to recognize certain features of the physical world such as topographic elements and environment. A user can set a time limit in which they must take a guess to their location or they may choose to set no time limit. The game can put the user in any location at first but as they gain points with correct guesses they can unlock certain maps that are more specific. One can move on the street view and look around 360 degrees and also look up and down. I think this game is very fun for all ages and can be used in and outside the classroom. I would use this app as a reward game for students to play during their down time. It would also be a fun brain break! Find it an the App Store at GeoGuessr - Let's explore the world! by GeoGuessr AB
