iMovie: Maker's Space Reflection
While making this project, I learned a lot about the resources available in the catalyst, particularly the Maker's Space, as well as the iMovie app. To start, we reviewed the resources available at the catalyst and we're surprised how many items were available. A lot of the resources such as the apple computers and microphones were not available for student checkout so we decided that would be too challenging. We evidently decided on the Maker's Space because it is new to us as College of a Education students and we wanted to learn and explore the resources it had for our use. We found many things that almost all teachers could use such as the big paper to make signs with and the die cutter machine. We decided to focus on resources more specific to our content areas. In our YouTube video we discuss the Osmo reflector, the Lincoln logs, and the native lands puzzle. We explain how they work and how we would use them in our classroom. Finally, we discussed some things we thought could be added to this area such as more secondary student resources and technology.
Some challenges we faced creating this project mostly involved the iMovie App. We were new to using this app for making a movie and not a trailer. I thought it was difficult to edit and particularly to add something like a picture or video after we had already started editing. We also had some problems getting the audio just right. It was difficult because the catalyst is a busy area and many students are in the space talking and working.
Overall, I thought using the iMovie app and learning more about the resources available at the Maker's Space was very interesting and helpful as a college of Education student.
